**MERIDA BRASS MONKEYS 3 POSTPONED to 17 January**

by Jane Lucas, 01 Jan 16.

Our apologies, but after working at the venue today, we have had to make the very difficult decision to postpone Merida Brass Monkeys 3 until SUNDAY 17 January. It's not a decision that we've taken lightly but, in our experience, with the large amount of (universally) predicted rain due to fall from now until Sunday afternoon we don't think riders will have a quality riding experience and we don't want to cause any damage to the venue either. The event will go ahead exactly as planned but on Sunday 17 January instead, so if you are entered you still are. We're sorry, but even with the postponement, we're unlikely to be able to take any more entries. We're all gutted and apologise once again for any disappointment that this causes.

Merida Brass Monkeys 3 - REVISED VENUE - Pre-entry only

by Jane Lucas, 22 Dec 15.

Round 3 of the Merida Brass Monkeys Enduro will now be held at a NEW VENUE – one that we have been looking to secure for a while, but recent issues have meant that we have brought forward it’s launch. The compact, but beautifully formed course near Frimley Green Surrey, will as ever, be carefully set and prepared by our very experienced team. You can expect to go through heath and pine woodland with flowing and testing singletrack mixed with climbs and descents...

Merida Brass Monkeys R2 Frith Hill - Results & Photographs

by Paul Howard, 13 Dec 15. Results [  ] Photos [ 1» ]

The final event of the year went out with a festive flurry as 100's of riders took to the sinuous trails around Frith Hill. The course building team had promised a great course with "very little climbing", which was kind of true, just every up was a short sharp shock, thankfully the descents that followed were longer and entertaining. But hats off to them they uncovered plenty of old trails to assemble a course that even the locals wouldn't know where they were at times. Trail conditions were for the time of year just slippery enough to have fun on and in places virtually powdery in the loam, I'm sure that can't be said of many venues during winter weather.

Full lap times and results can be accessed from the links above and Kevin Sheldrakes photographs will follow soon. Gorrick was pleased to welcome aboard new sponsor James White Drinks who provided podium prizes of their Beet It Sport drinks and bars.

Brass Monkeys Round 3 on Sunday 3rd January is where all the deciding points can be won to achieve a Series Finishing position. The series points from round 2 will be published later this week so you can see how you fare. From all the Gorrick, Brass Monkey and Army CU organising teams we wish you a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Merida Brass Monkeys R1 Checkendon - Results & Photographs

Well done to all of you who rode at Checkendon today. I'm sure you'll all agree that given the circumstances leading upto the race with the last minute venue change forced upon us, the team did a great job of putting together a fun and tough lap worthy of a Brass Monkey...

Merida Brass Monkeys R1: Venue Change to Checkendon

by Jane Lucas, 11 Nov 15.

Due to widespread, ongoing Army training manoeuvres across the area, we have this week been told that we cannot now use any military land at all for Merida Brass Monkeys Round 1 this coming weekend.

We have therefore had to try and source some non-military land at very short notice - with insufficient time for the usual official pre-application paperwork that is required at most venues. We have been greatly helped in this by Steve Jones of Banjo Cycles and, as a result, Merida Brass Monkeys Round 1 this Sunday will now be held at Hammonds Farm, Checkendon which is a privately owned established mtb venue. It is halfway between Wallingford and Reading on the A4074 and the nearest postcode is RG8 0QT.

Although we envisage a shorter course than usual for a Merida Brass Monkeys event, the team will ensure that you have an enjoyable opener to the Series. As you can imagine, we have had an extremely difficult, uncertain couple of weeks and we appreciate your understanding.
