Gorrick Skedaddle Spring Series FINAL Round - 10th April
by Jane Lucas, 04 Apr 16.
Hope you had an enjoyable Easter break and managed to get out on your bike at some point, despite the temperamental weather...
Pre-entry closes next Tuesday 5 April for the final Round of our Saddle Skedaddle XC Spring Series which is on SUNDAY 10 April at Area 51, near Frimley Green, Surrey GU16 6HT (which will be clearly signposted from Frimley Green village).
Since the last round of the Merida Brass Monkeys was held there, we have been very busy clearing and crafting another superb course, putting in a new access road through the woods from the venue entrance to the Arena and creating plenty more space amongst the trees for parking. As a result of this work, we would therefore ask all riders and visitors not to park in the road off the main road that is opposite the houses before you actually get to the venue entrance as there will be plenty of parking for everyone on the fire roads within the venue now. As well as allowing the best possible access to the venue entrance it will also help to maintain the great working relationship we have with the nearby residents.
Our XC events have categories for riders of all ages and abilities - full details and online entry are here and if you don’t pre-enter, you can always just turn up and enter on the day - Registration opens at 8am. As well as a superb course our events always have full facilities for riders and spectators.
Generous sponsorship by www.skedaddle.co.uk, www.owenscycles.co.uk, www.beyondmountainbikes.com, www.griffscyclelab.co.uk and www.1stgearcycles.com means that there’ll be some great winners’ and spot prizes given out. There’ll also be more prizes to be won from flash sponsor www.schwalbe.com.
If you rode at Round 1 and 2, here are the Series Points so far. As the Series is intended to reward our loyal, regular riders, to be in contention you need to have ridden at all 3 rounds and scored points in all of them (places 1st to 15th receive points). However if you haven’t, there are still round trophies and lots of spot prizes to be won. Expert riders have been competing for cash prizes based on a percentage of the entry fees taken at all 3 rounds and these are looking good for what has been a busy Series.

TrailTrax Orienteering
After this event we will be starting up our TrailTrax orienteering Series for Solos and Pairs on Sunday 24 April and also running the Hot MTB Challenge (marked route riding for 80, 50 or 30km) on 22 May.
XC Enduros
For our many XC enduro enthusiasts we have 3 diverse enduros over the next 3 months – the Kawasaki G100 on Sunday 1 May (a personal challenge to ride your chosen number of 8 mile laps), the Merida Summer Monkey (how many 5-6 mile laps can you ride in your chosen number of hours) and then our Premier event of the year, TORQ in your Sleep a 12/6hr enduro event (for Solos, Pairs and Teams) that offers free weekend camping and much more. Full details of all of these events are on www.gorrick.com and email news on them will follow nearer the time.
