Saddle Skedaddle Spring Series 4 - Porridgepot Hill: Results

Respect is due to everyone who turned up and raced today. It was a difficult call for us to make whether to go ahead at all and we're very sorry that we had to make a difficult decision early on to bring the Open race forward, but rider and staff safety is always paramount. If you thought it was cold riding spare a thought for Timelaps sitting out in the open, sterling work as usual, the forgotten heroes. Fortunately no more snow fell overnight so the course was clear thanks to the hard working team who put a lot of thought and some last minute changes in to avoid the worst of the standing water. So it wasn't really the bogfest that many riders expected. Everyone I spoke to afterwards said what fun the lap was and how you really had to concentrate to maintain speed or stay upright. But unanimously they were thankful for the shortened lap as racing hard in -1degC is tough on the lungs.

The final round is due on the 7th April at Frith Hill, just over the road from Porridgepot. Let's hope the spring weather finally turns and we're treated to dusty dry trails and warm temperatures. This will be the last chance to grab series points and series prize presentations will be made on the day soon after each batch of races finish.

In other race news, rumours had begun to circulate that the Gorrick 100 Kawasaki Enduro would be at Porridgepot and we can now confirm the venue change away from Swinley Forest. The arena will be the large playing field beyond the Spar shop. Although the Are You Tough Enough Race has been held here in previous years the course will be completely different so expect new trails aplenty. It's highly recommended to pre-enter to save time at Registration on the day and of course you save money too, bonus!

P.s. for those who asked today the TORQ12:12 6-hour solo race will most likely start mid-afternoon so you get to race in daylight and a couple of hours of darkness. That's a great way to introduce yourself to a full 12 hour solo in future.
