Spring Series 4 - Frith Hill - Results
by Paul Howard, 01 Apr 12. Results [ 1» ]
There were no jokers to be found at Round 4 of the Gorrick Spring Series on April 1st. Everyone played their cards right and revelled in the dusty conditions as the frost from the early morning soon gave way to sun and warmth. Frith Hill is always a fun venue to race and the addition of some newly found bombholes made it all the better. The tight and twisty sections were nicely balanced by more open flowing singletrack and the brave could take the opportunity to let the bike just slide a little on the gravel and pinecones! Great fun. There were many close battles all across the categories as the top 15 finishers in each race gain more points toward their final series positions. Round 5 is the grand finale of this Series to be held at Windmill Hill (the same arena used for the Army Are You Tough Enough Enduro) near Porridgepot HIll. This is just over the road from Frith Hill but provides a whole different style of trail and terrain, come and find out for yourself on the 22nd April.
Unfortunately we have to raise the issue of unsportsmanlike behaviour today. There were a number of incidents of very abusive language reported to us and things generally getting out of control. Gorrick will not tolerate this. Any parties involved in unsporting or intimidating behavior, or the use of profane or abusive language will result in disqualification and possible exclusion from future events. Please read and follow our Racing Rules and Ettiquette.
Riding on Ministry of Defence land
Public access to MoD land particularly for cyclists at present is going through some difficult times. The Frith Hill venue you were riding is MoD land and is a heavily used training area, as are; Tunnel Hill, Porridgepot Hill, Ash Ranges, Ceasers Camp, Minley Manor, and Hawley. This is not an exhaustive list. As responsible event organisers we have a licence to use the land on raceday. As of 1st April we urge you NOT TO RIDE on MoD land. Both the local Police and Land management agents will be patrolling and may instigate the byelaws. Your use of the land may also jeapordise future events being held, and we'd hate to lose the great venues.
More information will become available in due course. Please during this sensitive time adhere to this. Thank you.
