Congratulations to everyone who rode today, we hope you enjoyed the course and met or exceeded your challenge. How pleasant it was to ride fast and dusty trails in warm conditions after last years race of attrition. We are grateful to all the sponsors and of course new headline sponsor Exposure Lights who handed out a bunch of great prizes. Full results are available and photographs will no doubt come online early in the week.
If your head is still buzzing from the trails twists and turns I can add a few trail names to your experience if you should wish to ride them again;
- Roman Run: the first singletrack descent after the start straight.
- You Must Be Joking: the nasty steep gravelly climb upto the Wall plateau and leading into...
- Deer Stalker: the fast descent snaking through the tight copse with lots of berms and tabletops.
- Seagull Wood: a long section of trail split into 3 main blocks all built with the armoured trail material, and exiting onto the very windy Devils Highway.
- Stickler: this armoured trail starts with a bridge over a fallen tree and leads into the recently built 1.1km second section with plenty of big berms, rollers and rock steps. The whole trail can be ridden in either direction.
- Full Nine Yards: traversing the hillside this is the original Swinley trail and is great ridden both ways.
- Twisted Sister: another fast swooping descent dropping into and out of a fireroad.
- Just the final few trails and fireroads return you to the finish with a flurry ready for another 10.5 miles.
Our thanks go to all those people that have worked tirelessy maintaining, building and prepping. To ride Swinley Forest in future please purchase an annual cycle permit from this website.
Returning to the racing, there were outstanding performances on all levels but mention has to go to Swinley local Ben Thomas riding for TORQ Performance. He smoked the 7 lap race overtaking virtually the whole field completing the distance in an astonishing 5hrs 23m, some 20 minutes ahead of second placed endurance specialist Ian Leitch. Ben also had the fastest lap of the day in just 44 minutes.
