Porridgepot Hill provided the entertainment in the penultimate round of the Saddle Skedaddle Spring Series. Fast, swoopy and grippy trails were the order of the day and it felt like there was more descending than climbing, always a good thing! Though it appeared a few people got caught out and took a tumble. We hope everyone recovers ok. It does beg the question, did you pre-ride the course? In these short course races we always recommend pre-riding. It enables you to determine the best lines to take, whether you may wish to ride or walk an obstacle, and it warms up you body and muscles ready for the intensity of racing.
The prize draw for a Saddle Skedaddle Holiday Voucher was won by Gorrick race regular Jon Moyse, who incidentally finished 11th in the Veteran's race. You can still have a chance of winning a holiday at round 5 just by taking part (over 18's only).
For riders interested in attaining an overall Series Position or even vying for a podium you must score points in a minimum of three rounds to qualify. The series points from round 4 will be updated and published at the end of this week. At round 5 there will be presentations after each block of races for the top 3 Series positions in each category. Frith Hill is the venue on the 10th April. The location is just over the main road from Porridgepot Hill but provides a different style of terrain. It's perhaps a little less singletrack heavy with some more open fireroad but don't underestimate the effort required to power up the short gravely climbs! See you there.
