Spring Series Round 3 - Results and Photographs

How great it was to be back at Heath Warren after a 3 or 4 year layoff to ride many of the trails that have been revived, plus a handful of new ones thanks to Pete Radband's sterling efforts. I had forgotten just how testing and physically demanding the singletrack was there. If it wasn't the start straight hill and fireroad headwind that wore you down, it was the requirement to be constantly manoeuvring the bike around tight trees or trying to keep pedalling smoothly through the motocross trails. All great fun of course. Even our bikes went home 'happy' with barely the merest hint of mud to wipe off from the one watersplash.

In addition to the usual races the annual Varsity Race between Oxford and Cambridge closed the race program. A dominant Cambridge placed 8 riders in the top 10 so look to have swept the board.

For the final two rounds we move to Deepcut: R4 at Porridgepot Hill is always a highlight with its fantastic range of fast flowing descents and leg burning steeps, with the R5 finale just over the road at Frith Hill offering more open terrain but with some cheeky bombholes. Don't forget, to be in with a chance of a final series position or podium you need to have scored points in a minimum of three rounds. The points table including today's races will be updated later this week. In the meantime, keep training, or just have fun eating cake, drinking tea and riding your bike, we'll see you on the 20th March.
