Gorrick 100 - The wet and grinding one!

Maybe we've had it too easy for the last 5 years or so where the Enduro has always been blessed with fine weather, but today was more reminiscent of the first - very wet - Brass Monkeys race back in November. Even the temperature matched at a chilling 6degC as the rain settled in which caught many riders underdressed, what a marked contrast to when the course was laid out on Saturday. There were many tales to tell with the overriding one being "my brake pads have worn away", rapidly followed up with "but what an excellent course, great fun, all so rideable and no need for mud tyres."

Big respect to many riders for sticking it out and especially to USE/Exposure Lights head honcho Rory Hitchens. Rory completed a cool 6 laps of his 7 to prove that with grit (in your eyes!) and determination anything is possible. He opted to call it day then but took the win. Just 17 minutes later Scott Swaling crawled over the line for 2nd. Seasoned enduro rider Phil Hodgkiss had the longest ride of the day at 8hrs 38mins to be the final person to complete 6 laps. In the Womens 7 lap race riding for Kinesis Morvelo Jenn Hopkins stopped at 4 laps for the win with Swinley local Lorraine Staley riding for Mountain Trax also completing 4 in 6hrs. Joolze will no doubt report on the other categories when she's warmed up too.

Full results are now available, check back later for Joolze Dymonds photographs.
