Spring Series 2010
It's nearly springtime but you wouldn't think so looking out of the window!
Well if you enter the ever-popular Gorrick Saddle Skedaddle Spring Series, you'll feel like you are well on your way to warmer days! Once again the Gorrick team are joining forces with the UK's biggest independent cycle holiday provider – Saddle Skedaddle, who will be handing out prize draw holiday breaks throughout the Series. Not forgetting too, the support of all your local bike shops who will be sponsoring all the competitive categories with a plethora of prize vouchers.
After such a fabulous response to the Autumn Classics, Gorrick will be encouraging more youngsters into racing with an Under 10's category, so all the family can come and experience some Gorrick fun, and with the top 10% going home with a trophy in each race, you may have plenty to tell your friends about!
So, with the winter Solstice behind us now, we can look forward to longer days and lots more XC racing fun over the coming months! Here's a taste of what's to come:
R1: 17th January – Frith Hill
The opening round takes us to Frith Hill, within shouting distance of Porridgepot Hill, but providing you with a much gentler introduction to racing after the excesses of Christmas and the New Year! But don't be lulled into a false sense of security, easy it won't be! Again you'll find lots of twists and turns that Gorricks are so well known for, along with the usual grin inducing fun bits, which will be there in abundance!
R2: 14th February – Tunnel Hill, West
How better to spend Valentine's Day than a blast with your loved one in the mud! Now renamed the Tunnel of Love, this will provide much more fun than any spa, and gives you the chance to go home not only healthier but also with a holiday to look forward to!
The trails here are a mix of open heath land and woodland, seamlessly combining manmade and natural trails for the ultimate Gorrick experience, more fun than chocolates and flowers any day, honest! You never know you may just fall in love.
R3: 7th March – Crowthorne
The original, and still one of the best courses on the Gorrick circuit. Despite the cruel uphill start you will be well rewarded as you whiz through plenty of fast flowing, wicked singletrack. It's sure to give you the ultimate MTB buzz!
R4: 28th March – Porridgepot Hill
A sweet but stiff going course with plenty to keep you entertained. Set on top of the hill with tracks disappearing off in all directions, you won't know whether you’re coming or going, but the smiles will tell you everything you need to know about this excellent feature packed course!
R5: 18th April – Tunnel Hill, East
Returning to the Tunnel, after our 'love in' earlier in the year this time we go east, utilizing all those tantalizing tracks and trails that sweep in and out of the woods, providing a grin fest for even the most hardened MTB enthusiasts!
