Crowthorne Wood proved once again to be as popular as ever, no doubt enhanced by a good spring like day, as 600 riders revelled in the dry conditions. There was a great buzz around the arena as riders, families and friends passed the time of day or cheered on their mates. The start straight was lined three deep with spectators keen to watch wave after wave of races start. For some the odd mishap occurred as gears crunched accelerating up the hill and for one poor soul a broken chain just 100 metres into his race.

The University Challenge (or Varsity Race to be titled correctly) held between Oxford and Cambridge was a highlight at the end of the day. I've yet to hear the final result as to the winning team as apparently they apply a highly scientific mathematical process to determine the team points. In the somewhat easier to determine random prize for a Saddle Skedaddle mountain biking holiday the lucky recipient was Jason Blann who finished 14th in Master Men. So you see there's always an incentive for you all to come along and give the next race a go.

Our photographer Joolze Dymond and hubby Dave were out and about taking photos which are now available via the link above. You can buy all manner of high resolution images for your pc desktop, hardcopy prints and more. Her full race report and two more rider profiles will follow soon.

The Series Points will be updated later in the week along with the sponsors and prize list, so we'll begin to see who the category leaders are as we move into the final two rounds. Don't forget to be eligible for a series prize you must score points in a minimum of three rounds. Looking ahead to Round 4 on 29th March the venue is Porridgepot Hill at Deepcut. Why not enter now at MBSA to save queuing on the day by collecting your race number board at Entry Express.
