The challenging nature of Porridgepots' Hills were no April Fools joke, except maybe the aptly named 'king hill following the start! This became a spectator’s focal point as the crowds willed and heckled the riders grinding or spinning their way up. The compact course, although shorter in length than some rounds, can be a real toughie if you're not firing on all cylinders with nowhere to gain any respite. Consequently there were some very fast laps with Adrian Lansley (PedalOn) clocking a scorching 15:05 opening lap in the Elite/Experts and maintaining the form for 5 laps, an awe inspiring ride. Some riders were not so fortunate and we pass on our regards and best wishes to Hannah Reynolds who we believe may have a broken arm.
Series sponsor Exodus Holidays gave away another holiday in the prize draw, won by Glenn Panton who rode to 46th place in Open so he'll be looking forward to getting away for some riding in the sun. A new sponsor has just joined us - Dodgy Gear Clothing - who've provided a range of t-shirts as spot prizes. Stephen Brear was the lucky chap to take away some new 'threads'.
Looking ahead the fifth and final round is on the 20th May, held just over the road at Frith Hill. All the series positions will be decided and the cash prizes and shop vouchers presented so we expect a big turnout. Before then the Gore Bike Wear Enduro Challenge returns to Swinley Forest on the 6th May. This is likely to attract big fields so we recommend you pre-enter at MBSA to avoid queuing on the day and to enable the races to start on time.
