Final Spring Series Points and Category Winners

So the 2011 Spring Series has come to a close. What a great set of five events and widely differing courses we were treated to. Attendances were as healthy as ever with many more new people taking to the sport which is encouraging to see. Final series positions are now published...

The Summer well and truly took over the Spring series finale at Frith Hill as racing was held in fabulous mid 20's temperatures. Dusty fast riding trails were the order of the day for everyone to enjoy and it all made for great close battles in the Series Points, with many positions not decided until the final crossing of the finish line. Congratulations to all those who stepped up to the podium and a big thank you to our Series Sponsor Saddle Skedaddle, and the local bike shops that support each category with prizes. In the prize draw for a Saddle Skedaddle Holiday open rider Pippa Tanner was the lucky winner.
A massive thank you from all the Gorrick Team to you all for riding, spectating, the caterers, timing crew, course builders, commentators, photographers and not least all the behind scenes staff who work tirelessly to bring quality events and race courses to the masses. And yes, the Spring Series will be back in 2012 - the provisional dates and venues are already published on our event menu cards. In the meantime we look forward to seeing you at Swinley Forest on the 1st May for the Exposure Lights 100 Enduro.

The Final Round of our XC Spring Series, headline sponsored by Saddle Skedaddle is on Sunday 10th April at Frith Hill, Deepcut, Camberley, Surrey. There's all to play for to gain those vital final series points or just come along and ride for fun. The Tunnel Hill Trolls will finish the day with a one lap handicap sprint which should provide some entertainment...

Spring Series Points updated for Round 4

The final positions are taking shape but it's still all to play for with just Round 5 remaining. The top 3 finishers in each category will be awarded shop vouchers and selected Saddle Skedaddle holidays in podium presentations after each batch of races. Please make an effort to stay around for this.

How great it was to be back at Heath Warren after a 3 or 4 year layoff to ride many of the trails that have been revived, plus a handful of new ones thanks to Pete Radband's sterling efforts. I had forgotten just how testing and physically demanding the singletrack was there. If it wasn't the start straight hill and fireroad headwind that wore you down, it was the requirement to be constantly manoeuvring the bike around tight trees or trying to keep pedalling smoothly through the motocross trails. All great fun of course. Even our bikes went home 'happy' with barely the merest hint of mud to wipe off from the one watersplash. Spring Series Round 3: VENUE CHANGE to Heath Warren Wood

As hinted in the news after Round 2 we're very pleased to announce that Heath Warren Wood has been secured as the venue for Round 3 of the Saddle Skedaddle Spring Series on the 6th March. All the hard work that the team put in to the venue during January to recover old trails and build anew won't go to waste afterall.
