TrailTrax Orienteering this Sunday

by Jon Lucas, 03 Jul 03.

What could be better on a pleasant Summer Sunday morning than riding your bike (from a pub), navigating the countryside finding checkpoints, and finishing for food & drink (back in the pub)? If it sounds appealing read on....

When and where?

This Sunday 6 July at the Fox & Goose pub in Greywell near Hook in Hampshire. Grid Ref: 718513 OS Explorer 144. The start venue is just 2 minutes from junction 5 on the M3 and will be signed.

What is it?

It's a fun mountain bike orienteering event for 1 or 2 riders over 90 or 180 minutes. You choose your start time between 9.00am and 11.00am. Once you have chosen your time schedule, you plan your own route to visit as many checkpoints as you like on lanes and tracks in the surrounding area. Each checkpoint is worth a different amount of points and we supply a laminated map extract to show you where they are. When you reach a checkpoint you clip your check card with the clipper fixed to the checkpoint. Time penalties apply if you return after your finish time, which is marked on your check card.

And then what?

At the end there's time for chat, beer and food back at the pub before the results are announced and prizes, from our sponsor Mountain Trax, are given out.

So how do I enter?

Just turn up on the day and we'll sort it. More details on the TrailTrax pages.
